Prerequisites
Before setting up Slack forwarding, make sure you have:
- ✅ Forward SMS app installed
- ✅ iOS Shortcuts automation configured (Required first step)
- ✅ Slack workspace with permissions to create apps and webhooks
Setup Steps
Step 1: Create Slack Incoming Webhook
To forward messages to Slack, you need to create an incoming webhook:
- Go to https://api.slack.com/apps
- Click Create New App
- Select From scratch
- Enter app name (e.g., "SMS Forwarding") and select your workspace
- Click Create App
- In the app settings, click on Incoming Webhooks in the left sidebar
- Toggle Activate Incoming Webhooks to On
- Scroll down and click Add New Webhook to Workspace
- Select the channel where you want to receive messages
- Click Allow
- Copy the Webhook URL (it looks like
https://hooks.slack.com/services/T00000000/B00000000/XXXX...)
Important: Keep this webhook URL private. Anyone with the URL can send messages to your Slack channel.
Step 2: Configure Forward SMS App
Now add the Slack webhook to your Forward SMS app:
- Open Forward SMS app
- Tap Create New Rule or "+" button
- Select Slack as the destination type
- Paste the Webhook URL you copied from Slack
- Tap Send Test Message to test the integration
- Check your Slack channel to verify the test message arrived
- Tap "Save"
Your SMS messages will now automatically forward to your Slack channel!
